Levenbank Distillery: Highlights from Our First Year Distilling Whisky in 2025

What a year 2025 has been at Levenbank Distillery. As the year comes to a close we thought we’d take a moment to look back and reflect on some of the highlights of our first year distilling whisky.

1. 
   

   February, we officially opened our doors and began distilling whisky, becoming Scotland’s newest Lowland distillery. Built on years of experience brewing flavour-led beers at Loch Lomond Brewery, our approach to whisky-making was centred around brewing flavourful wash to use as the base of our whiskies.

   
   

2. We began filling whisky casks, mostly for our future reserves but we have been blown away by the response to our cask ownership programme. We’ve loved welcoming so many people into the distillery to fill, sign and follow their casks before they are laid down to mature.

   
   

3. The formation of our Levenbank 700 Founders Club was another highlight, inviting our supporters to be the proud owners of the first whiskies we ever release. As part of the package, members receive an oak decanter and new make spirit so they can age their own spirit at home.

   
   

4. We celebrated our official launch with a party to remember, joined by Robert Robertson and Fergus Munro from the popular Scottish band Tidelines, who had the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon to formally open the distillery. It was also an honour to have the procession piped in by our very own Callan MacEachern.

   
   

5. We also partnered with Northern Monk, brewing a beer that will form the foundation of a future Levenbank whisky release and play a role in our cask programme. This was the first of many brewery collaborations to come, rooted in shared values and a love of flavour.

   
   

6. We began to distill two of the three of our single malt new make spirit recipes. Laureate - made with locally sourced pale ale malt supplied by Crisp Maltings and fermented with ale yeast, Laureate delivers a fruit-forward, vibrant spirit that captures Levenbank’s brewing expertise and secondly, Brewmaster - crafted using a blend of pale ale, crystal, and brown malts, Brewmaster offers a rich and indulgent profile that reflects its malt-forward brewing heritage. Our peated new make will soon be in production too.

   
   

7. And finally, we launched Cu Mara Rum, marking another exciting chapter as we continue to explore spirits beyond whisky.
